Jeld Wen Window Review

Built home 8/2014. In two years we have had two window failures with failed seals - Windows fogged up in between glass layers. Would not buy Jeld Wen again. Have to pay replacement installation cost after two years.

Jeld Wen - Window Warranty Review from Richland, Washington

Jeld Wen Windows and Doors has absolutely the worst customer service. I have a house full of Jeld Wen V-grooved etched glass windows. I have the original invoice for purchase and a copy of thier warranty that came with the windows (and is still posted on their current web-site for the date I bought my windows from them.). The seal is gone in 3 windows and I have condensation between the pains. Their warranty specifically covers this, but Jeld Wen doesn't make V-grooved glass any longer, so they won't replacement them stating they no longer warranty discontinued products. I'm not done with battle. I am powered on high octane "principle" now.

Terrible Quality - Junk!

I built a large home in 2008. If you count double windows as 2, then I have 88 windows. All of them are Windsor with the exception of 2 which are Jeld Wen. I have had nothing but problems with these two windows after a couple of years of being installed. One pane leaked and had to be replaced at my expense. Water has gotten in around the seals and there is water soft wood on the frame. My painter have had to come out and paint and caulk. Now I have water leaking into a bedroom below one of these windows. I wish someone had them up their butt.

JERD-WEN front door installation

We ordered a JELD-WEN front door from Home Depot on 12/14/15 with an estimated arrival time 1/19/16. The door finally arrived with pick-up date of 2/26/16. The door was installed by a private contractor on 3/3/16 and would not close properly after several attempts to install, without forcing it. JELD-WEN advised they would send a field technician to inspect the door on 3/9/16, claim #01N16B19. The technician arrived on 3/9/16, did not introduce himself or provide a business card. The technician agreed that the door was not constructed correctly and would recommend a new door unit. JELD-WEN, Natasha called and advised that technicians report indicated that the unit was not installed properly and was out of square by ¼” and mull is out of level 1/8”. We requested an inspection report and warranty from manufacturer but did not receive the information until 5/9/16 and inspection report was only a 2 line email with the above information. Home Depot requested for the contractor to return and “rack” the unit. The contractor returned and racked the unit and door still would not close properly and had a large gap above the door. JELD-WEN agreed to provide a replacement slab and it was scheduled for delivery on 4/18/16. The door did not get delivered and we were advised that the door had been lost and had to be remade? We were advised it would be delivered on 5/26/16. We called on 5/25/16 to verify and was advised that the delivery time was not scheduled until 6/1/16. No one contacted us with the schedule change? Natasha from the JELD-WEN scheduling department called on 5/31/16 to cancel the door install that was scheduled for 6/1/16. The door had been lost again!!! We called Home Depot and spoke to the Store Manager, Tim, and he advised that we could return the door for full refund. However, JELD-WEN called and said they had located the door and install was scheduled for 6/8/16. JELD-WEN technician arrived and again did not introduce himself or provide a business card? The door measured to his satisfaction and he installed the new slab which still rubbed. The replacement door was the same size as the original? Technician said that he had recommended a smaller door? We told him we were not satisfied and he agreed that the door did not fit correctly. We received a call from JELD-WEN, Mike, that the technician had advised them the door had been installed to the customers satisfaction and warrantee claim #01N16B42 had been closed. This made twice that the technician had told us one thing and told JELD-WEN something completely different. We called Home Depot, Angela, on 6/10/16 and advised we wanted to return the door. Home Depot, Tim, advised that he would do whatever it takes to make us happy. We agreed to have the contractor return to complete the installation on 6/29/16. Slab is now level at top and door rubs slightly but we decided to accept it as we have grown tired of all the hassle and house being in disarray due to the drawn out installation mishaps. We are very disappointed with the technicians’ lack of professionalism and lack of honesty and are highly disappointed with your company. Bottom line, I would never ever order or recommend to my friends to order another JELD-WEN product.

I am guessing this happens in the summer when you have your AC on inside. The window is performing properly, the condensation from the humidity in the outside air is collecting on the coldest point which is your glass when the AC is running.....

Will not stand behind there windows

I bought windows years ago under a different company that was purchased by Jeld Win. I was given a warranty by North west energy that stated "Life time warranty for any defects in the glass for as long as I own and occupy my home" (vinyl only) I have had leaks and failures for the past 20 years now, and every time they were fixed w/o charge. but now that its been over 20 years and I do not plan on every moving, the now company Jeld Win will no longer support this contract, says "they prorated the windows and times up!" So please, please take my advice, DO NOT purchase windows from a company that turns their back on its costumers, or those of company's they acquired.

Manpower brought me into a job and his place in Ozark first thing they started me doing I was supposed to be a door Builder wish they had me standing for 2 days shadowing these guys making doors which was my training I jumped in and made two stacks of doors myself which I thought I was doing just as good as the guys that were doing it was then we were off July 4th then on the 6th I come in I'm standing there watching the guy make doors and then this lady comes over and tells me we don't need you here we don't have enough work to do you go home. I come in the next day they tell me okay you're going to be doing John starts his job which he delivers the doors to the trim saw and it's a very hard job you have to deliver schedules to all positions in the whole Jeld-Wen plant you have to keep up with all these ticket numbers you have to know what kind of doors there is what style it is what size it is what is made out of all the stuff because in two days he was going to third shift and they need someone to do it on first shift I did it for a day and a half they call call Manpower call me and told me he'll when I called them and said we don't need him he can't catch on fast enough so what are you supposed to do. My suggestion is don't use Manpower go find your own job now.

Senior owned house, no kids...doors losing bottom rubber and unable to lock bottom lock on french doors. Very disappointed with quality!!! Rep was nice, sending parts but have to hire someone to install...company says only 1 year for help with installation. Too bad...

In three and a half years of having the door they've had to send me replacement parts for the dog door twice so far because it won't hold up the door part, and I'm trying to reach their customer service department to get a replacement screen for the dog door now. 4 days still. No reply. Their customer service BLOWS.

I have been trying for over three years to get satisfaction for my warranty on leaky windows and broken hardware. I have had several visits from manufacturer representatives, and multiple promises by the customer care office but no no action. I have called, emailed and continue to be ignored. I have requested and recieved support from the vendor Spenard Building Supply. There is no doubt about the warranty or the damages. It is inexcusable not to get responses as a common and professional courtesy. The inability to get these windows fixed affects are business as they a viewpoints for weddings and other special events that we host.
