I have problems with their doors

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We were sold that this company was top of the line. We spent almost $100K on exterior doors and windows. We have had lock failures on a sliding glass door, that have required a locksmith to come out multiple times. We have had the shaft between the door handles break on two little used doors twice. They dont provide the shafts, to fix it ...you have to be the whole door handle unit which is over $100 for a $5 part. I can tell you the engineering on the shafts is substandard. This is the 10th home I have owned in 45 years. I have never paid so much for windows and doors and had so many problems. I have never had problems with exterior door handles or sliding glass door locks. Their customer service is arrogant and unhelpful.

30" Prehung 6 panel hollow core door

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought a prehung jeld-wen door from Home Depot the other day for a small project. After looking at all 4 available doors I took the best looking one.

There was no physical damage but I think the doors are literally assembled by the blind. The trim was installed starting at the top with a 1/8" reveal on the hinge side and finished flush with the frame at the bottom. The opposite side started with 1/4" reveal at the top and ended flush at the bottom. This was the situation on both sides.

I had to remove all the trim and re-attach it. Not only is the trim messed up but 6 out of the 9 hinge screws attaching the hinges to the frame were stripped. Now keep in mind, this was the "best looking" door out of 4. Also, the top hinge was screwed in with 3/16" of the mortise visible causing the door to hit the door stop and not close properly.

Again, QC must be performed by the blind.

Guess I'm going to have to try Masonite doors next time. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures.

Dog door flap blows open and lets rain, snow and cold air in

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Jeld Wen - Dog door flap blows open and lets rain, snow and cold air in

Installed this expensive door, hoping to integrate the dog door into the slider for a better seal. But the flap on the door doesn't stay closed and in the cold temps stays in a curl, so that it cant close.

Why wouldn't this expensive dog door not have any magnetic features to keep the flap closed? I think the flap should be made of more pliable rubber so that it will still be flexible in the cold.

Very disappointed for spending so much money on a door that lets more weather in than my $100 cheap dog door.

The door makes noise after a while blowing dirt gets in-between the plastic and the glass and when you pull on the handle to open the door the plastic creeks against the glass. Does not sound like a quality door.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution

User's recommendation: My experience I would not buy another door like this one. The creek I can live with, but something has to be done with the free flow of air through the dog door.

Leaking picture window - no customer support

Jeld Wen - Leaking picture window - no customer support
2.5 years ago I had Jeld-wen 16 siteline window units installed as part of a remodel. Two of the windows leaked and one of the smaller units was repaired by the sales rep. One of the large picture windows (6'x6' with attached casements) we installed has continued to leak each time it rains and it is rotting and staining the inside sash. The contractor took 2 years to finish the job and thought they had fixed the leak on the picture window. Turns out they had not and I contacted Jeld-wen customer service in March of 2020. They were initially very helpful and asked for more info offering to send someone out to review the issue. Well in about June they said the warranty for labor had expired and they could send out some parts. It is now September and they will not respond to any emails for support. We spent over 20K on windows one of which is going to be totally ruined soon. We have not even painted the interior of the window yet because that would be a waste at this point with the water intrusion.

Having the same issue on Newly installed, fixed units. Slider panels were used, by J W in the same frames, so grills would line up.

The weather stripping around the exterior that holds in the glass, is a very poor design. This wall with one slider and a side unit on either side, is trimmed as a show piece, on exterior and interior. Haven't even been paid for job completion. About 5 grand.

Would take a least a week to install all over again, but why use the same company. In first stages of issue. Very concerned about long term problems. I have done customers work, and a lot, for over 20 years.

In a heavy down pour, we watched the water fill the jamb cavity, over 5 cups. They used the same jambs with a nailing fin used on a slider unit. THe slider unit is all welded seams, and reinforced to sit and by pass the fixed unit.

No flimsily weather stripping. It is how I wanted to do the project, but getting the fixed slider from the frame was a extensive process and future seal failure concerned me.

Windows trim or brick mould was not the same on all wondows

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
You did not fix the problem. In my opinion you should have the same trim on all windows in a package. It doesnt look right on my home. I feel you should install 1 trim on the rest of my windows so they match the others. I spent $13,000 on 32 windows and Im not satisfied. Im very disappointed.

User's recommendation: Ask about trim and brick mould and make sure it matches.

Warped windows, delayed delivery

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Ordered 15 windows through Menard's to replace all windows in my house. The order took a month longer than promised. 14 of the 15 windows were so warped they could not be installed. Many would not function (open and close) at all. Rather than expedite my replacements, I was put to the end of the order line and have to wait another two months for my windows, assuming they arrive in the time frame promised. . .not holding my breath. Meanwhile, my house has no windows because they were removed when the order was received and winter is fast approaching. I would not recommend this company.

Worst service I have ever experience. No customer service, no communication, excuses why they suck.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original owner of house with 44 failed windows which are covered lifetime. They sent their 3rd party vendor to test windows. They still refuse to contact us on the status of windows after order on 8/14/20. On 8/24/20 after being on hold for 1 hour plus, found out they had not ordered the window replacements with no explanation. We will be contacting our attorney soon. Every time you finally get a rep on the phone, they have nothing to offer, contacts, no return call from supervisors, or data to support the issue. Pathetic

Took almost a year to get this company to fix a warranty issue with my doors. The absolute worst customer service, you have to send multiple emails and make multiple phone calls and waste countless hours on getting any response from them.

Door is NOT sealed properly, leaks when it rans and Japan bugs came in at the seal of door. Trying for about a year to get resolved no satisfaction, took pictures and now we have a video.

Lowe's has been telling us they will send a representative out but no one has called yet. When I said I might have to get a hold of "Call for Action" they ask us to be patient and that they are working for a solution. This has been going on for close to a year. Purchased October 10, 2019 and installed by Overhaul Property Service (Lowe's contractor) on or about December 10, 2019. Still waiting. Have receipt and some records of many of the calls related to this. Growing IMPATIENT. I do not know how to download, but our daughter sent pictures to Lowe's. I will see if she might be able to send video. Where do I send it.

Window fabrication and delivery, numerous delays

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I placed an order for one window that is in Jeld-Wen's product line, but is not a stock item at Home Depot. The order was placed on July 7, 2020 with a delivery for July 31, 2020.

This date was later revised to September 1, 2020. The revised ship date two days ago was September 23, 2020. Two days later it was revised to October 1, 2020. I have purchased two other windows for this project from two other manufacturers after July 7, 2020 that have been delivered weeks ago.

Not withstanding the social issues we are facing Jeld-Wen and Home Depot will not give an honest answer as to when this order will be filled. Avoid at all cost.

I would but this is a certified building product to be used in Florida. All exterior and framing products used in Florida construction must have a Florida certification number to be used.
