Company will not stand behind product.

I have a new construction home. A steel Jen Weld door was installed on exterior of the basement access. The door was installed less than 4 years ago. It is rusting both inside and outside on bottom of one inch the door. I called Jen Weld and they will not stand behind the rust. I talked to Home Depot where door was purchased and was told it must be taken up with Jen Weld. Jen Weld state they can not stand behind the rust because they can't control the elements the door is exposed to. No matter the age of the door.

User's recommendation: Look for alternatives to steel or look at Jen Weld's competitor Stanley doors.

Premium window experience

Jeld Wen - Premium window experience
ordered and installed 16 premium vinyl windows in my home may of 2019. They arrived ok. upon installing I noticed a few had streaks inside the sealed double pane glass, and these were upgraded to tempered glass. Issue is the partial window stops that flip out end up breaking off as they flip out by themselves when you close the window, upon opening up again the window catches them breaks the spring inside of breaks the lever off. Happened to two windows the first week. Trying to replace by warranty is non-existent, several emails and no response. So I go on their website and order the parts needed, paid for them, weeks later I get an email stating the parts are on backorder. I finally get the parts, which are nothing what I ordered, don't even match the part numbers on my order and not even the correct quantity. Several emails later- NO RESPONSES. So now I have 3 (3 month old)windows with broken parts that I cant get parts for. what a joke, mistake with this company.

Horrible support from Jeld Wen

Spent thousands of dollars of doors. 2 1/2 years later, the hinges are covered with rust. I don't live near water (I'm in downtown Orlando).

When I called Jeld Wen, they said they don't cover the hinges. I asked if their hinges normally last on a few years. The Jeld Wen rep said that's not usual, but they won't cover the rusted hinges. I will have to pay someone to come out, remove the door, install new hinges (that I bought) and re-hang the door.

I thought Jeld Wen was a good company. I was wrong. Stay very far away from this company.

I wouldn't recommend Jeld-wen doors either. My french door hinges are rusting after a few years too and found this posting when wondering about warranty.

Not sure when it started to rust. My other Jeld-wen impact rated door is even worse.....whole bottom of frame rotted out. This is probably due to the Home Depot installers (wanted to send that same company to install french doors years later but I refused to have them back ever again).

Door had never leaked until I replaced it with the expensive impact rated door to be hurricane safe. Now I get puddles and wood rot.

Wow the incompetence of consumers is very funny. "I don't live near water (I'm in downtown Orlando)" You live in a tropical paradise that has humid, salt air and a lot of rain and you have an outs-wing door.

It does not matter what hinges you have they will always rust when exposed to the outdoor elements. Stainless steel is your best option but it will to rust.

Read Jeld-Wen warranty and any other supplier you will see they do not warranty hinges, period. I have 40 years of door shop operations and door industry service.

What a terrible comment. You sure wouldn't be hired by me for any work

How on earth did you spend $350 on hinges? There is no need to remove a door to replace the hinges.

Simply remove the screws and replace one hinge at a time.

shouldn't take you. more than 10 or 15 minutes to replace them all.

I purchased exterior doors from this company and the hinges were rusted after 4 months. I was told by the manufacturer to apply wax to prevent the rust.

I would not recommend Jeldwin as the hinges rust and the door is beginning to delaminate. They also told me that if a defect existed I had 15 days to report.

I purchased the exterior french doors from Loew's. The person at the millwork desk was visibly upset with the response from Jeldwin.

Don’t anticipate help or responsibility on the companies part.

I purchased a door and when installing it found that all of the screws were stripped. This was a brand new door which I have a receipt for. The contractor had to go get new screws plus a new piece of wood and rebuild the frame to the prejudge door. It was a major inconvenience to us all and cost me more than originally priced. I would have take The door back to Home Depot but there were no more so it would have cost me for the contractors time wither way. I called looking for some compensation but received none.

Do not honor warranty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Ive got about $20k of jeld-wen windows in one room that are leaking after 10 years and caused/causing considerable damage to my home. All trim, drywall, etc. is removed so every part of the installation is visible. Jeld-wen says it must be due to an installation problem, but wont tell me what the problem is and say they have no installation guide to send me. Told me they cant warranty windows mulled in the field (most are) instead of factory mulled. How exactly would 8 factory mulled windows be transported and installed in a highrise? They need to make this right and are not. Has been awful dealing with them - not helpful.

Mulling is done by your contractor and is his responsibility. No window manufacturer will be responsible for the work of a contractor.

After a longggg wait, door arrived damaged. Since I confirmed it was at local store, I employed contractor to tear out existing door on that day but we could not install a damaged door.

Asked Jeld wen if I could send pics and keep door for install due to security and warmth issues and that I was leaving for Xmas. Jeldwen, who took several weeks to fill order, refuses to allow me to retain worthless door for security until my new one comes in SEVERAL more weeks. They will not loan me the door, nor will they expedite new order.

I'm a senior and now cannot get a contractor, cannot order another brand door and pay for it too, and cannot proceed with my remodel because of permit issues caused by lack of an exterior door. I am losing money and sleep.

JELD-WEN is a massive production machine with no heart for their customers or their own employees based on reviews. Home Depot employees have no motivation or power to intervene even tho they sell the doors.

Lesson learned....NEVER tear out of doors/windows until you know, for sure that the new product is in good working condition and is onsite. I tell ALL my customers not to schedule contractors until material arrives and is inspected.

Windows slip when opened. Jeld Wen does not service their product

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bought a house in Jan 2019 with original construction (2005) Jeld-Wen double hung wooden windows. The top sash of many of the windows slips down when the bottom is raised. Screens are warped, and 2 have fallen out. We cannot find anyone who services the windows. Jeld-Wen has NO service or repair people, and will not give any references. Poorly made, cheap developers brand that will be difficult, if not impossible, to maintain or repair unless you are a do-it-yourselfer. Even the developer cannot make a referral for repair.

I have the same problem..cheap crap windows..I cannot lock the windows because the top window has slipped down...on all the windows..the sliding glass door has a huge gap when closed between the two panels of the doors..in the winter the curtain actually blows around from the wind blowing through the gap... I agree poor poor quality..I had one of my sliders replaced with an Anderson door..what a difference in quality...

Their brilliant white is gray

Jeld Wen - Their brilliant white is gray
Updated by user Sep 24, 2019

They contacted me and said that their brilliant white has a gray tinge and the 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch swatch should have alerted me to that fact. My complaint is that they admit that it has a gray tinge, and I say they should not call it brilliant white which it is not.

They should call the color primer gray. They would not do anything for me.

Original review Aug 23, 2019
I paid $130/door extra (3 doors) to have them finished in their brilliant white. Their brilliant white is definitely not white, but gray. No one who observed the doors thought it was brilliant white. There was a marked difference between the door color and the primed trim. When I called customer service they said, "Sorry, but that is our brilliant white." I have to have them all repainted to have white doors. If you want white doors, don't order brilliant white. Otherwise I like the quality of the door, but I wasted $390 plus I have to have them repainted.

Hinges are located on the middle sides of bifold door and do not close flat leaving a gap on the front between the doors. If they were mounted on the back side like my other set they would meet in the middle and flatten when closed. Guess I will have to relocate hinges myself. What were they thinking?

Absolutely terrible product

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The 1st Patio Door that Lowes delivered, was a fiberglass door that so poorly constructed that the contractor couldn't get it to square up in the same spot that another patio door (Pella) came out of. The second door (steel this time), "fit" and was somewhat square, but no matter what they did the striker plate for the dead bolt prevented the dead bolt from being used. There are gaps between the doors and the seal between the doors keep falling out. These doors are crap and I'll go to *** before I buy another.

Hinges weren't even in the inset and screws were all put in sideways. Nothing lined up, the door *** hole did not line up with the door frame. The hardest door I have ever installed. Been better off building door jamb and door myself. This company is like a fast food restaurant just throw it together. No pride and craftsmanship.

After filing a complaint with the BBB, they contacted Jeld-Win. Jeld-Win then agreed to replace the screens at their cost and not at Home Depot's cost. Replacement screens were received on 4 Oct 2019

Original review Sep 05, 2019
Ordered screens along with new patio french doors. Screens were incorrectly made leaving a bow in both doors with the middle of the screen 1/2 narrower than the top & bottom. Doors arrived and had to wait 2 weeks for installer to schedule installation. After installation I discovered the problem when I tried to install the screens. Purchased from Home Depot and when I tried to get a replacement set (Due to Jeld Wens mistake), they refused to replace them because the installation was not finished in 2 weeks. Home Depot is ordering replacements at their cost (Kudos to them for that). Jeld Wen will never receive another order from me and I have spent a couple of thousand on replacement windows over the years
